Jodi knew that strength training was especially important for seniors. "Anything you can do like this for your health is a good expenditure."
"Aging is a precarious process," says Jodi Warner. At age 66, her friends talk about how daily activities of life are getting harder. But not for this new fan of The Perfect Workout. When she joined earlier last year, she had a feeling it was going to work. She had no idea how much. Like most people, Jodi Warner wanted to lose weight, tone up, and get stronger. That was part of her motivation, but she had a deeper, more bighearted reason for coming to The Perfect Workout. "My purpose in life is to be the matriarch of a close and loving family. It's so important to me, it's the core of who I am." Part of that at this point is lifting and carrying her grandchildren. Upper body strength from the slow-motion strength training kicked in quickly. "I take care of my one-year old grandson. It's so easy to lift him high out of his chair and swing him on my hip. I also noticed how much more energy I had. It's all so much easier now! I completely credit this workout for being able to do this."
Jodi's personal trainer Oakland, Denise, tracks all the numbers so she doesn't have to. "I don't pay attention to my weight or how many inches I've lost," says Jodi. "My clothes fit me! That's my one measure." She admits that Denise gets her to do more than she ever would on her own, and loves the fact that she has a trainer who really listens to her, something that didn't happen at a previous gym. Even more than changing the shape of her body, Jodi has an increased sense of self-confidence and strength. She's noticed it while hiking and climbing near her home, and she noticed it on a trip last summer with her husband. While living in France for two and a half months, they toured Normandy, explored the 5th and 6th arrondissements of Paris where they stayed, and often walked up to seven miles a day. The hard work with Denise paid off, and the walking countered the baguettes and butter they had every morning. Getting back to her workout routine upon returning didn't take long either.
A retired reading specialist, Jodi feels extremely fortunate to have her health and her family. Her three grown daughters and their husbands, and three grandchildren, all live within 15 minutes. Life is good, and Jodi gives an enthusiastic "absolutely!" when asked if she plans to continue at The Perfect Workout. "I'm glad to have the opportunity to support this business."
